Terminal 2 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi will be inaugurated on 25th October 2025. Flight operations will begin late at night on 25th-26th October, in line with the winter schedule.
The inauguration will be led by the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, with attendees from various aviation bodies. The upgraded terminal features autonomous aerobridges and is promoted as a “future-ready” facility, highlighting its modern design.
The capacity of IGI Airport will now be around 100 million passengers a year, which supports India’s growing aviation sector. Around 120 daily domestic flights, mainly from IndiGo and Air India, will move to Terminal 2, helping to reduce congestion at Terminals 1 and 3.
Users should check their PNR or mobile apps for any terminal changes. Expect smoother passenger flows, but be aware of potential road traffic at the airport during the initial days.
Following the reopening, the terminal will handle a higher volume of flights as IGI aims for over 2000 daily movements. There are plans for a potential international concourse after 2026.
