In a shocking case of betrayal from within, famous singer and North East Delhi BJP MP, Manoj Tiwari, has fallen victim to a burglary at his residence. The incident, which took place at his Mumbai home, has rattled supporters and residents alike. What makes this case particularly startling is that the perpetrator was not an unknown criminal, but a former employee who used duplicate keys to gain unauthorized access and wipe out cash from the MP’s cupboard.

The Betrayal: How an Ex-Staffer Executed the Heist

The theft occurred at Manoj Tiwari’s residence in the Sundarban Apartments, located in the Shastri Nagar area of Andheri West, Mumbai. According to police reports, the mastermind behind the crime is Surendra Kumar Dinanath Sharma, a former staff member who had been fired from his job nearly two years ago. Despite being let go, Sharma had secretly retained duplicate keys to the main door, the bedroom, and the almirah.

The complaint was filed by Pramod Joginder Pandey, Manoj Tiwari’s manager who has been working with the MP for over 20 years. Pandey revealed that Sharma used these duplicate keys to enter the premises seamlessly, bypassing the need for forced entry, which initially made the theft difficult to detect.

Caught on Camera: The CCTV Alert That Busted the Thief

The game was up for Sharma on the night of January 15, 2026. Around 9:00 PM, a CCTV alert helped the staff catch the former employee red-handed. Footage showed Sharma entering the house with his set of fashioned keys. On this specific night, he had managed to steal approximately ₹1 lakh before being identified.

However, investigations revealed that this wasn’t his first time. The total amount stolen stands at a significant ₹5.40 lakhs. It was discovered that back in June 2025, a sum of ₹4.40 lakhs had mysteriously vanished from the cupboard. At that time, the family could not identify the culprit, but Sharma’s recent capture has solved the mystery of the missing cash from last year as well.

Police Action: Confession and Arrest by Amboli Police

Following the incident, the Amboli Police Station moved swiftly. Based on the undeniable evidence provided by the CCTV footage, the police took Surendra Kumar into custody. During the interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to his crimes, admitting to using the duplicate keys to steal the money on both occasions.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections and have formally arrested the accused. Further investigations are currently underway to recover the stolen amount and to ensure there were no other accomplices involved in this breach of trust.
