The Delhi Police Crime Branch has made significant progress in the fake shoe manufacturing case. After raiding a factory in Sonia Vihar last month, the police have now arrested two more key members of the gang. The accused were involved in making and selling counterfeit shoes of popular international brands. DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav and his team tracked down these suspects based on information provided by the factory owner, Sandeep Singh.
Who are the new suspects caught by police?
The police team led by ACP Pankaj Arora arrested Idu Ansari and Pintu. Idu Ansari, also known as Raju, was caught in Nangloi. He is a graphic designer who made the fake “dyes” or molds used to print brand logos on the shoes. The second suspect, Pintu, was arrested from Mandoli Extension near Sundar Nagri. He was responsible for assembling the shoes and giving them the final finish before they were sent to the market. Both were working closely with the main accused to run this illegal business.
What materials were seized during the raid?
The police recovered a huge quantity of material used to make these fake shoes. The gang had a full setup to copy brands like Nike, Adidas, New Balance, and Skechers. The seized items include:
- 6 heavy heating press machines used for shaping
- 9 printing screens for logos
- 9,616 upper parts of shoes ready for assembly
- 1,667 sticker sheets with international brand names
- 131 counterfeit dyes and molds
Police also found a computer with digital sketches of the logos and pen drives containing design data from Idu’s workshop.
How was the fake shoe business running?
This racket was very organized and operated like a proper company. The factory in Sonia Vihar was running without any license. The gang used to sell these high-quality fakes in local markets and to street vendors. While the original shoes cost thousands of rupees, these copies were sold for much less to attract common buyers. The police have booked them under copyright and cheating laws. The investigation is now focused on finding the wholesalers and online sellers who were buying these shoes in bulk.
