Travelers planning to visit home during the Holi festival often face huge difficulties in getting confirmed train tickets. To solve this problem, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has announced special bus services. Starting from February 23, 2026, to March 23, 2026, the corporation will run 65 buses daily to major cities. This initiative is aimed at helping people who are stuck on waiting lists for trains.

Which Cities Will Get Direct Bus Connectivity?
BSRTC has planned these routes to connect Bihar with ten different states. The special buses will operate under All India Permits, ensuring smooth interstate travel without hassles. Major destinations covered include Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Ambala, Kolkata, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Siliguri, Ludhiana, and Kanpur. People can board these buses from main depots in Bihar such as Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Siwan, Darbhanga, and Sasaram.
How to Book Tickets and What Are the Facilities?
The online booking for these special buses starts this Friday, February 6, 2026. Passengers can book their seats through the official website bsrtc.bihar.gov.in or use popular apps like RedBus, AbhiBus, MakeMyTrip, and Goibibo. Offline tickets will also be available at major bus stations. The fleet includes AC Deluxe, Non-AC, Sleeper, and Seating options. For comfort and safety, these buses are equipped with Wi-Fi, mobile charging points, and CCTV cameras.
What are the Ticket Prices?
While the exact special fares are being finalized, general rates provide an idea for travelers. A Volvo AC trip from Muzaffarpur to Delhi costs around ₹3,000, while shorter routes like Patna to Purnia cost between ₹350 and ₹390. The government may also offer concessions on these routes. Regional Manager Pawan Shandilya confirmed that all buses will undergo strict fitness and pollution checks before hitting the road to ensure passenger safety during the festive rush.
