The Central Cabinet has officially approved the extension of the Delhi Metro Golden Line to improve connectivity in South Delhi. This new project adds a 3.9-kilometer elevated corridor that will link Tughlakabad directly to Kalindi Kunj. With this approval, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has moved forward with the final route alignment and station designs. This extension is expected to be a major relief for daily commuters traveling between Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram by cutting down travel time significantly.

Which new stations are coming on this route?
According to the latest official data, this new section will have four stations. The route starts from Tughlakabad and goes through Sarita Vihar Depot and Madanpur Khadar before ending at Kalindi Kunj. This design creates a strong network for passengers.
Tughlakabad station will act as a key interchange point for people coming from the Violet Line. Similarly, the Kalindi Kunj station will allow passengers to switch easily to the Magenta Line. The entire 3.9 km stretch will be an elevated corridor, meaning the metro will run on pillars above the ground.
What is the cost and deadline for the project?
The government has set a target to complete this extension within the next three years. Officials aim to make the line operational by the year 2028-29. The estimated cost for building this specific section is approximately ₹1,024.8 crore.
This new route will feature advanced driverless train operations, just like the existing Pink and Magenta lines. Market experts also believe that once this line starts, property prices in nearby areas like Sarita Vihar, Jasola, and Madanpur Khadar could go up by 10% to 15% due to better connectivity.
