The investigation into the tragic death of three sisters in Ghaziabad has led police to look into the past history of their father. Officials have decided to reopen a death case from 2015 involving the father’s former live-in partner. This step was taken after three girls, Nishika, Prachi, and Pakhi, jumped to their deaths from an apartment in Bharat City Society on February 4. The father, Chetan Kumar, is currently under police questioning regarding his financial debts and family matters.
What is the Connection with the 2015 Case?
Police records indicate that in 2015, a woman living with Chetan Kumar died after falling from the roof of a house in Rajendra Nagar Colony, Sahibabad. At that time, the investigation concluded it was a suicide and the case was closed.
However, since his three daughters died in a similar manner by falling from a height, the police are re-examining the old files. Officers are looking for patterns in domestic behavior. Chetan Kumar has been interrogated at least three times in the last few days to understand the circumstances leading to these deaths.
Financial Debt and Sold Mobile Phones
The investigation revealed that the family was facing a severe financial crisis. Chetan Kumar, who works as a stock and forex trader, has a debt of approximately ₹2 crore. Due to money issues, he allegedly confiscated and sold the mobile phones of his daughters about 10 to 15 days before the incident.
Cyber teams are now using IMEI numbers to track the people who bought these phones. They hope to retrieve deleted data or app history. The police also noted that the girls had not attended school for the last two years. Key financial details include:
- Total Debt: Approximately ₹2 crore.
- Recent Sales: Daughters’ phones sold 15 days ago.
- Housing: Family lived in rented flats despite claims of distress.
Diary Notes and Korean Culture Influence
A 9-page pocket diary was found in the apartment, which mentioned the girls’ interest in Korean pop culture. The sisters had adopted Korean names like Maria, Cindy, and Aliza. The diary also contained a list of 19 activities that were forbidden by their parents.
Forensic experts are analyzing handwriting samples from the diary. The post-mortem report confirmed that the girls died from shock and haemorrhage caused by the fall. Police are also verifying the roles of the three mothers, who are biological sisters, in this case.
