The Delhi government is preparing to launch open-top double-decker tourist buses very soon. These electric buses will take tourists around key heritage sites in the national capital. The launch is expected around February 20, 2026, marking the one-year anniversary of the current government. The buses have been handed over to the Tourism Department and are currently undergoing final route testing to ensure a smooth experience for passengers.
What are the Ticket Prices and Tour Timings?
The officials have finalized the fare structure to make the ride accessible for tourists and locals. For adults, the ticket will cost ₹500, while children between the ages of 6 and 12 years will be charged ₹300. Infants under six years can generally travel for free.
These tours will primarily operate in the evening and night hours, likely starting after 6:00 PM. This timing is chosen so visitors can see the illuminated landmarks and enjoy the city lights comfortably. Every bus will have a mandatory on-board guide to explain the history and significance of the sites during the journey.
Which Routes Will the Bus Cover?
The double-decker buses will follow a specific heritage circuit covering major national landmarks. The route includes prominent locations such as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, National War Memorial, and Bharat Mandapam. Tourists will also get to pass by the New Parliament Building, Kartavya Path, and Dilli Haat.
The buses are electric and air-conditioned with an open upper deck, offering a panoramic view of the Lutyens’ zone. Currently, officials are testing the route to ensure the 4.75-meter-high buses can pass safely under trees and overhead wires. The Delhi Tourism Department (DTTDC) is managing the operations, while the buses were manufactured by Ashok Leyland under a CSR initiative.
