The Faridabad police have taken strict action following the tragic ride collapse at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela. Two individuals responsible for operating the ride have been arrested. The incident, which took place on Saturday evening involving the “Tsunami” giant swing, resulted in the death of Crime Branch Inspector Jagdish Prasad and left several others injured. The state government has announced major support for the deceased officer’s family while the investigation continues.

Who has been arrested in the case?
Police have arrested Mohammad Shakir, the owner of “Himachal Fun Care,” the company that was running the ride. Along with him, a staff member named Nitesh from Meerut has also been taken into custody. An FIR has been registered against them under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
To ensure a fair probe, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed. This team is working under the supervision of the DCP (Crime) to find out the exact technical failure that caused the swing to crash.
Compensation and Fair Status
The Haryana Government has honored Inspector Jagdish Prasad with martyr status, as he lost his life attempting to rescue trapped passengers. His family will receive financial assistance and support from the state.

- Employment: A government job for one family member.
- Mela Status: The amusement zone is currently closed for safety audits.
- General Entry: The rest of the crafts fair, food court, and cultural programs are open as per schedule.
The authorities have ordered mandatory safety audits for all remaining installations at the fair to prevent any future accidents.
