The Meerut Police has arrested Akash Sansanwal, the boyfriend of social media influencer Anjali Arora, during a security check on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The incident took place on Sunday, January 25, just a day before Republic Day. The police have also seized his black Scorpio car.
Why was the arrest made?
Akash Sansanwal was driving a black Scorpio car which had a sticker of ‘Ex-MP’ (Member of Parliament) and ‘Rajya Sabha Secretariat’. During the high-security checking for Republic Day, the police at Kashi Toll Plaza intercepted the vehicle. Upon verification, the sticker on the car turned out to be fake.
Attempt to escape from police
According to police reports, when the officials signaled the car to stop, Akash allegedly tried to break the barrier or flee from the spot. The police team, led by SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, immediately detained him and seized the vehicle. The high alert status for January 26 made the violation even more serious for the authorities.
Charges and Legal Action
The police have registered a case against Akash under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for fraud and forgery. Using a fake government pass to evade toll or security checks is a criminal offense. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, January 26.
Anjali Arora allegedly called leaders
Sources suggest that after the arrest, Anjali Arora tried to contact several politicians in Delhi to recommend his release. However, the police refused to entertain any calls due to the strictness of the Republic Day security protocols. This incident has created a buzz on social media concerning the influencer’s personal life.
