If you have ever felt the frustration of traveling halfway across the city just to get a simple revenue certificate or file a municipal grievance, the Delhi government has some fantastic news for you. In a major move to decentralize power and bring administration closer to your doorstep, the government has finalized six key locations for constructing “Mini Secretariats.” These hubs are designed to serve as one-stop solutions for the city’s 13 reorganized revenue districts, promising to end the days of running from pillar to post for official work.
From Dwarka to Saket: Where Are These Hubs Coming Up?
The administration has moved swiftly to identify sites that are accessible and ready for development. The Public Works Department (PWD) Projects Zone has already taken charge of the execution, with preliminary work kicking off at several spots. According to the latest reports, the finalized locations cater to various parts of the capital:
- Southwest Delhi: A massive new facility is coming up at Dwarka Sector 10.
- South Delhi: A brand new building is slated for Saket.
- Southeast Delhi: A new construction project has been approved for this district.
- East Delhi: The existing District Commissioner office at Mandawali is set for a major renovation.
- Northwest Delhi: The District Magistrate (DM) office at Kanjhawala will undergo significant renovation.
- North Delhi: The current DM office structure is being upgraded to meet modern standards.
The Dwarka Model: A ₹212 Crore Green Marvel
Among the six sites, the project at Dwarka Sector 10 is turning heads for its ambitious scale and eco-friendly design. With an approved budget of ₹212.91 crore, this Mini Secretariat is being envisioned as a state-of-the-art administrative complex. It isn’t just about office space; the government is aiming for sustainability.
The Dwarka hub will feature zero-waste systems and rely heavily on solar energy, setting a benchmark for green public infrastructure in the capital. The timeline is just as impressive as the design, with a completion target set for 18 months. Once finished, it will serve as the flagship model for how district administration offices should function in a modern smart city.
Decentralizing Power: 13 Districts, One Goal
This infrastructure push follows Delhi’s significant administrative restructuring, which expanded the revenue districts from 11 to 13 to align better with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zones. The logic is simple: smaller districts mean better management and faster service delivery.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is personally heading the oversight of these projects to ensure there are no bureaucratic delays. A Project Monitoring Committee has been established to keep a hawk-eye on timelines and quality standards. By decentralizing services like revenue management, certificates, and grievance redressal into these Mini Secretariats, the government hopes to handle the increased public footfall efficiently while ensuring that the remaining seven sites—mostly within existing DM offices—are finalized soon.
With work already underway, Delhiites can look forward to a future where government services are not just more efficient, but also physically closer to home.
