How did the accident happen?

Kamal was riding his Apache RTR 200 bike from his office in Rohini to his residence in Kailashpuri. Near the Janakpuri District Centre, ongoing work by the Delhi Jal Board had left a large pit open on the road. The victim reportedly fell into this pit during the night. His family members searched for him at various police stations including Janakpuri and Sagarpur throughout the night when he did not return home.

What action is being taken?

The police recovered the body around 7 AM on Friday and sent it for postmortem. Family members have alleged that there were no barricades or warning signs around the pit, blaming the Jal Board for negligence. Local MLA and Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood stated that a probe has been ordered into the matter. He assured that if any contractor or official is found responsible for missing safety measures, strict action will be taken against them. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to understand the exact cause of the fall.
