The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is introducing a new service to help commuters reach their final destination easily. Starting from January 31, 2026, passengers will be able to book bike taxis, auto-rickshaws, and cabs directly from the metro stations using a mobile app. This initiative aims to reduce the waiting time for vehicles outside stations and provide a seamless travel experience.
How will the booking system work?
DMRC has partnered with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) for this project. STCL operates the ‘Bharat Taxi’ app, which will now be integrated with the Delhi Metro’s official ‘Sarthi’ app. This integration allows passengers to plan their metro journey and book last-mile connectivity on a single platform. The service will be available on both Android and iOS devices.
Which stations are included in the launch?
The service will initially cover 10 major metro stations across the network. A pilot phase will run at two specific locations to test the operations before expanding further.
| Phase Details | Information |
|---|---|
| Launch Date | January 31, 2026 |
| Pilot Stations | Millennium City Centre, Botanical Garden |
| Service Types | Bike Taxi, Auto, Cab |
Will the fares be affordable?
The fares for these services will be competitive with current market rates. While peak-hour pricing may apply, there will be a cap on surge pricing to ensure the service remains affordable for daily commuters. The pricing model is designed to be transparent and passenger-friendly.
Why is this service important?
This move aligns with the vision to improve urban mobility and reduce pollution in Delhi and NCR. By providing reliable first and last-mile connectivity, DMRC hopes to encourage more people to use public transport. The pilot phase will help officials evaluate the response and make necessary improvements for the future.
