Commuters in Delhi have received a major update regarding public transport connectivity in the capital. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially announced the extension of the Magenta Line under Phase VA. A new underground corridor stretching approximately 9.9 kilometers will now connect Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, significantly improving access to central parts of the city.

Which new stations are being added?

The new corridor will be fully underground and will pass through some of the most important landmarks in Delhi. A total of 9 new stations have been planned for this route. These stations will serve high-traffic areas including the Supreme Court and India Gate.

Station Name
Ramakrishna Ashram Marg
Shivaji Stadium
Central Secretariat
Kartavya Bhawan
India Gate
War Memorial–High Court
Baroda House
Bharat Mandapam
Indraprastha

How will this change travel in Delhi?

This extension is a strategic move to decongest existing lines and offer seamless interchange options. With this update, the Magenta Line will become the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network, reaching a total length of 76.6 kilometers. Passengers will be able to change trains easily at key points like Central Secretariat for the Yellow and Violet Lines, and at Indraprastha for the Blue Line.

When was this approved?

The Union Cabinet approved Phase VA in early January 2026. This phase includes three corridors in total, but this specific extension is crucial for connecting Central Vista and other government hubs. The DMRC shared these details recently on social media, confirming the alignment and station names for the public.
