The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has officially changed the name of the Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 metro station. Starting February 7, 2026, this station on the Pink Line is known as ‘Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar’. The authorities have already started the work to change the physical signboards outside the station and update the internal announcement systems to help daily commuters recognize the new identity.
Reasons behind the name change
This decision helps solve a common problem for travelers in the capital. People frequently got confused between Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 and Mayur Vihar Phase 1 stations due to their similar names. The new name fixes this issue and also respects the local demand to honor the nearby Shree Ram Mandir. The State Names Authority gave the final approval for this change after a request was submitted by the local MLA and supported by community groups like the Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha.
Ticket fares and other details
Commuters do not need to worry about any price hike linked to this renaming. The ticket fares remain unchanged. For example, a trip from this station to central hubs costs about ₹30 via token, with standard discounts for smart card users. The Delhi Metro is currently updating its software and route maps to show the new name ‘Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar’ across the entire network.
