Over 800 people have gone missing in the national capital during the first 15 days of 2026. Official reports indicate that on average, 54 people are disappearing every day in the city. The data highlights a significant number of women and children among those reported missing in this short period.
Official Data on Missing Persons
The data compiled between January 1 and January 15 reveals the scale of the situation. Out of the total cases, nearly two-thirds involve women and girls.
- Total Cases: 807 people were reported missing in the first two weeks.
- Women and Girls: 509 females are on the missing list compared to 298 males.
- Minors: 191 children have gone missing, including 146 girls and 45 boys.
- Current Status: Delhi Police has successfully traced 235 people so far, while 572 individuals are still missing.
Police Action and Search Operations
The Delhi Police is actively working to locate the missing individuals through various drives like ‘Operation Milap’. In the South-West District alone, the police reunited 75 people, including 28 children, with their families in January.
Officers follow standard procedures for these cases. For missing minors, details are uploaded to the ZIPNET portal within 24 hours to alert networks across states. Search teams are checking CCTV footage and monitoring transport hubs like railway stations and bus terminals to find the remaining 572 people.
