What is the forecast for the coming week?
The weather department has indicated that a fresh Western Disturbance is becoming active starting the night of February 8. This system will bring partly cloudy skies and shallow mist to the region on February 9 and 10. While no rain is predicted for the plains of Delhi, the maximum temperature is likely to touch 26°C by February 11.
The Western Disturbance will mainly affect the Himalayan region with isolated rainfall or snowfall, leaving Delhi dry but cloudy. This change will bring a slight variation in the daily weather, although the overall trend suggests warming days ahead for the capital city.
How is the current air quality status?
The air quality in Delhi has shown slight improvement, moving to the ‘Moderate’ category with an average AQI of 196. However, specific areas are still facing pollution issues despite the overall drop in numbers. Some of the recorded hotspots include:
- Mundka: AQI 266 (Poor)
- Pusa: AQI 257 (Poor)
- Narela: AQI 247 (Poor)
Pollution control measures under GRAP Stage I and II are still in place to keep a check on emissions. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) continues to restrict BS-III diesel commercial vehicles from entering the city to prevent pollution levels from rising further.
