Four Indian medical students have been injured in a stabbing incident at Bashkir State Medical University in Ufa, Russia. The attack took place late Saturday evening at the dormitory for international students. The Indian Embassy in Moscow has confirmed the news and called it an unfortunate attack. What happened at the University dormitory?
The incident occurred in the sports hall of the university hostel, which is located about 1,200 km east of Moscow. A 15-year-old local boy reportedly entered the building armed with a knife and attacked the students. Local reports suggest the attacker shouted slogans during the incident.
Police have detained the teenager, who is also hospitalized due to injuries. The Investigative Committee of Russia has started a high-level criminal probe to understand the motive and find out how an armed person entered the student dormitory. Security around the campus has been tightened immediately.
Current condition of the students
According to the Russian Federal Health Ministry, one of the Indian students is currently in serious condition. The other three students suffered moderate injuries and are receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. In total, at least six people were hurt during the incident, including two police officers.
