A frightening accident occurred in Greater Noida on Saturday night when an Ola cab plunged into an open drain due to dense fog. The incident took place at the Bhati roundabout near Kasna, where visibility was extremely low. The driver and the passenger inside the car had a narrow escape and did not suffer serious injuries as the water level in the drain was low.
Fog and Sharp Turn Caused the Crash
The accident happened around 3:00 AM on January 31 while the cab was traveling on the Kasna-Sirsa road. The driver, Rizwan, was taking a passenger named Sunil Kumar towards Sector Ecotech-6. Because of the heavy fog, the driver failed to see a sharp 90-degree turn at the roundabout. The vehicle went straight instead of turning and fell into the drain. Local police responded to the emergency call and the vehicle was pulled out using a crane on Sunday morning.
Authority Takes Action After Incident
After the accident, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) started fixing the dangerous spot. On February 2, officials began building a permanent wall at the site, which had been delayed earlier due to a local dispute. As an immediate step, they also installed wooden poles and reflector tapes to warn other drivers. This action follows a recent order to secure all open drains and black spots in the city to prevent such mishaps.
