The national capital is getting ready to host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 starting from February 16. The Delhi Traffic Police has finalized the plan to deploy over 4,000 personnel across the city to manage vehicle movement. The main event will be held at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. Officials have clearly stated that unlike the previous G20 summit, there will be no lockdown, and daily life will continue as usual.
How will the traffic be managed?
The police department has divided the city into 10 zones and 22 sectors to ensure smooth traffic flow. Ten Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) will supervise these arrangements. The primary focus will be on the routes connecting IGI Airport, Bharat Mandapam, and major hotels in Central and South Delhi. For the first time, police are also testing AI-powered smart glasses to monitor crowds in busy areas like Connaught Place without setting up too many physical barricades.
Will schools and offices remain open?
The administration has confirmed that all schools, private offices, and commercial markets will remain open during the summit from February 16 to 20. There are no instructions for work-from-home or school closures. Traffic police are marking specific alternate routes for school buses and ambulances so that students and patients do not get stuck in VIP movement. A virtual help desk is also being set up to give real-time updates on any minor diversions.
