delhibreakings mcd jangpura pet park opening entry fee rules update MCD Pet Park in Jangpura to Open Soon, Entry Fee Likely Rs 30 to 50

Delhi’s first dedicated pet park in Jangpura is finally seeing hope for opening after a long wait of two years. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is sending a new proposal to the higher authority this week to finalize the operator for the facility. The park was structurally completed in December 2023 but remained closed to the public because the necessary committee to manage its operations was not formed. Now, officials are moving fast to open this 1.5-acre facility near the Jangpura-Lajpat Nagar flyover.

What are the Rules and Entry Fees?

The MCD has set clear guidelines for using this facility to ensure safety and hygiene. No pet will be allowed inside without prior registration on the MCD 311 app. Owners must provide proof of anti-rabies vaccination before entering the premises.

Regarding the cost, the final price list is waiting for approval, but internal estimates suggest a pocket-friendly entry fee.

  • Entry Fee: Expected to be between Rs 30 and Rs 50.
  • Daycare Charges: Professional boarding services for owners at work may cost around Rs 500 per day.
  • Leash Rule: The park is a designated off-leash area, but pets must pass a behavior check first.

New Facilities and Shelter for Strays

A major update has come regarding the inclusion of stray animals in this project. Following a recent Supreme Court order, the MCD is planning to dedicate a separate, isolated section of the park as a shelter for stray dogs. This will be distinct from the recreational area meant for pet dogs and cats.

For pet owners, the park offers several modern amenities. It includes a veterinary clinic, a grooming unit, and a pet swimming pool. There is also a pet-themed cafe and a party area for celebrating pet birthdays. The facility uses repurposed shipping containers for some of its structures, funded partly by CONCOR.
