delhibreakings noida authority approves cctv sector 150 yuvraj mehta case update Noida Authority Approves CCTV Network for Sector 150, Cameras to Link with Sector 94 Command Centre

Following the tragic death of 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta, the Noida Authority has officially approved the installation of CCTV cameras on internal roads in Sector 150. This decision aims to strengthen surveillance and ensure road safety for residents living in the area. The new camera network will be directly integrated with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Sector 94 for 24/7 real-time monitoring.

Joint Survey and Camera Locations

A joint team from the engineering and traffic departments is currently conducting a detailed survey to identify the best locations for these cameras. The officials will focus on areas that currently lack proper surveillance, major arterial roads, and entry points to housing societies. The survey will specifically target “black spots” where accidents frequently occur.

Once the survey is complete, a specific budget for the Sector 150 project will be finalized. The Authority confirmed that the process to install this network officially began on February 4, addressing the long-standing safety demands of the residents.

Strict Deadlines for Developers and Safety Upgrades

Apart from installing cameras, the Noida Authority has identified 65 accident-prone “black spots” across the city. Out of these, 50 are located on land managed by private developers. The Authority has set a strict deadline of February 20 for developers to fix these hazards. Construction sites must be secured with barricades, signage, and reflectors to prevent accidents.

Immediate Safety Measures Taken:

  • Accident Site: Fencing completed at the site where Yuvraj Mehta’s accident occurred.
  • Road Safety: Reflective road studs and improved lighting installed near ATS Le Grandiose.
  • Penalties: Developers facing heavy penalties if safety norms are not met by the deadline.

Investigation and Administrative Changes

The death of the young engineer on January 17 led to major administrative changes, including the removal of the Noida Authority CEO and the termination of a Junior Engineer on January 19. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by ADG Bhanu Bhasker is currently investigating the lapses that caused the accident.

While the Sector 150 budget is being prepared, the Authority is also working on a broader Safe City Project estimated at ₹200 crore. This larger project is currently awaiting technical review from IIT-Delhi. The focus remains on ensuring accountability and preventing such tragic incidents in the future.
